These programmes enhance career opportunities and open new avenues for the young women, especially those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds but have the determination to make a mark in life.

Translation and Interpretation

This is a UGC sponsored certificate programme offered by the college comprising 30 lectures over a span of 3-4 months, followed by an examination of two and a half hour duration. Students from SOL, NCWEB and other colleges can also apply. The programme aims at training the students in inter-language translation, particularly Hindi to English and vice versa, with a focus on translation theories and in-class assignments and class tests. The programme provides the students with ample job opportunities in the related field.

Hindi Patrakarita

This is a UGC-funded 4-month certificate programme. The programme aims at acquainting the students with the technicalities of journalism, both print and electronic media, and to hone their skills for a prospective career in the same field. Noted media persons and faculty members from within and outside the college deliver the lectures. The duration of the programme is 4 months, comprising 24 lectures. The classes are held twice a week, each class spanning 90 minutes. Eligibility is 10+2 from a recognized educational board. Students from School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women‘s Education Board (NCWEB) can also apply for the programme. The fee shall be informed later.

Proficiency in Spoken English

This is a UGC approved add-on programme offered by the college. The objective of the programme is to hone the communicative skills of the students in English with a clear focus on job interviews, group discussions, speech, and other day-to-day dealings. Students from non-English background are the main focus of the programme as this helps them acquire English-speaking skills and gain self-confidence.

Certificate & Diploma Programmes in German Language

The College offers a self-financed, part-time Certificate Programme and a Diploma Programme in German language. The programmes provide skill knowledge to its students and enhance their employability. These programmes are affiliated to the Department of Germanic and Romance Studies, University of Delhi and are run as per official guidelines received. The programmes are run in the annual mode with an annual exam as per the University of Delhi schedule. Successful students receive their certification documents from the college office – as and when issued by the University of Delhi.

Candidates who have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with an aggregate of at least 45% marks are eligible to apply. Total number of seats are limited to 60 and admission shall be made in order of merit based on marks in 10+2. The classes are held in the afternoon after regular classes. A total of 6 hours in a week will be held. The programme fee is as follows:

  • Rs. 10,000/- for Vivekananda College students* (for certificate programme)
  • Rs. 13,000/- for other students of University of Delhi* (for certificate programme)
  • Rs. 16,000/- for Vivekananda College students* (for diploma programme)
  • Rs. 18,000/- for other students of University of Delhi* (for diploma programme)

Diploma Programme will be offered only to the students who have completed the Certificate Programme in German Language.

*Please note that Examination Fee is separate and will be charged at the time of collection of Examination forms.

This is another short-term add on programme that the college runs in collaboration with the Delhi State Legal Authority (DSLA).
